    Air Rife Target Shooting

We now have some rare copies of Robin's new book on target shooting with match rifles in the club to try to help us make some progress.

This is a very "limited run" book with only 25 copies printed so it could become a really sought after reference manual for rifle shooting coaching in the future.

Most books on target shooting with an air rifle (such as the highly regarded "Way of the Rifle") assumes the shooter is already a competent marksman and just adds the final polish to go that (giant) step further to reach the highest levels.

This new book bridges the gap between the beginner/newcomer/clubman who would like to learn the correct technical way to shoot up to where some of the other books start.

That is not to say that this book is basic - far from it (!)

Once the "Introduction" and "The Sport" chapters are completed it then moves on (in great depth) with all aspects of rifle shooting through chapters titled "Fitness", "How to get Started". "The Basics", "Precision", "A Stable Hold", "A Perfect Zero", "Concentration" ( it lost me at this stage !) "Discipline" ( gone again!) "Aiming", "Trigger Control", "Breathing", "Rhythm", "Building The Shot", "Physical Variations", "Training" ( including Scatt), "Psychology" and "Development".

Everything is thought through very thoroughly - including the clever use of spiral binding so the pages can be opened up flat when referring to it.

Within the 102 pages the author shares his huge rifle shooting experience gained at national and international levels since the 1970's and his 40 years of rifle coaching knowledge (right up to include current best practice).

The secrets are revealed for us all to read and understand leaving only the reader to take whatever he (or she) wants to take from the book, and for anyone that is prepared to make the investment in time and effort the techniques have been proven to take those of ages from early teens to late seventies ( I just scrape in here then) up to a 90 average at 10 metres.

The book will not shoot the rifle for you - but if you work with it and put in the effort it can help you to reach that magic 90 average. If you do not want to make the (considerable) effort you can still benefit from knowing why you are not likely to make it but still have the knowledge to do so at any time in the future.

A good solid read for just £15 a copy and we have some spare copies available at the club for anyone that is interested - or just plain curious
