You've asked for help to up the power in an airgun to beyond the legal limit.
You state that you will be hunting game with an air rifle.
We don't give illegal instructions on this reputable web site.

You claim to be a qualified engineer yet are only 17 years old.
Where did you get your engineering degree?

    What collage/uni did you attend?
and finally show me the qualification cert.
    Then we might move on...

You cannot expect us to help you to break the law.
Suppose you tweak the gun. A tweaked Spitfire would not even manage 20shots, before needing refilling with air.
Increasing the power will not make the gun significantly more effective. Your own shooting skills and careful placing of the shot are far more important.

    Hi rageraver,

First thing you need to do is chrongraph this rifle and see what it is doing then either take it to a local dealer e.g Helston Gunsmiths or send it to BSA for servicing.

If you would like to get it chronoed, I have a chrono if you would like to contact me: dale@wheal-jane.co.uk between 8am and 4pm mon-fri, it would be possible to arrange a meet up at the local club and check your rifle.

In terms of how you have been treated by the other responses, perhaps you should re-read your original posting and understand the impression that you have given.

This is what you said. It implies that you don't care what power it ends up as the landowner has an FAC. You however do not. No-one is likely to respond positively to a request like this. I can't believe that you are surprised by the response you are getting. I also can't believe that you are trying to explain away what was blatantly a daft request.

Have to admit i own a IZH61 pushing less than 3FPE and THAT tears through a coke can no probs at all.

I had a cheapo plastic pistol that shot steel bb's THEY went through cans too (food cans like bean tins)

To be as weak as you say it must be sub 3FPE and i would take it back to the shop for repair under warranty.

    Also whats behind the wall?

I hope you have a suitable backstop

Oh and one LAST thing. You claim to be Qualified Engineer and yet you don't know how to repair a simple thing like an Airgun???

When i was working in the Machineshop i would make a MENTAL note of where the screws and pins went and mapped it out for reassembly.

And yet here is an ENGINEER asking for the help of UNQUALIFIED engineers? Hmmm forgive me if i take this with a pinch of salt matey

It does not matter if the owner has an FAC (or firearms licence). If you go above 12ft/lb with an air-rifle then you must have an FAC to use it, and it must be specified on that FAC. The owner may not have .22 air rifle on his FAC and so still can not own it. I have an FAC but I can not own a 12ft/lb+ air rifle because it is not specified on my FAC.

You do need to get the gun chronoed and if it is well underpowered then get it tuned. Any good gunshop should be able to help out with this. Upping the power of an air-rifle should only be done by someone experienced who knows how to do it and to maintain the rifle at a legal limit.

I'm an engineer but probably couldn't repair an airgun because I'm a software engineer. I get someone with a mechanical background to sort mechanical problems.

The best thing you can do is take to your local gun shop they wont charge much to reset the power on your gun.
