waste of money on a tx anyway. the delrin bushes are there already on the piston but the compression tube only needs a polishing to get it smoother.

Buttoning can make the cocking cycle a bit smoother and is better than polishing as you still have metal to metal contact with polishing.
Very easy to do now with the Maccari buttons
I understand the new Pro-Sport has buttons on the compression cylinder to smooth the cocking action.

The back end of the piston has a delrin ring fitted which runs as a sliding fit within the compression tube. I don't know what the clearance "gap" is without the ring.Originally Posted by Risen

My TX200 Mk 2 is apart at the minute so I have just run the vernier across a few bits. Answers are....
-Inside diameter of action 30.0 mm
-Stepped outside diameter of piston 29.0 mm
-Diameter across the outside of the plastic ring 29.8 mm
Also for reference.
-Outside diameter of piston 24.5 mm (between seal and stepped diameter).
-Compression tube inside diameter 25 mm (not measured but that's what it is).
So notionally 1.0 mm clearance on diameter. Bit disappointing that the plastic sleeve is 0.2mm clearance, ought to be better than that really.

Also what is the stroke? (I think you have the shorter stroke MK 1 is that the case)

I weighed some parts a little while back.
-Piston Assy incl. seal is approx 209g
-Piston weight is approx 28g
-Piston stroke is approx 82 mm.
My TX is Mk2, I understand Mk 1 and Mk 2 are "short" stroke. Also worth mentioning, its 0.177. These are fitted with the heavy piston weight as std (also adds 13.2 mm of spring compression). I understand the 0.22 version has a smaller piston weight and presumably this adds less spring compression. In any event I've seen several recommendations of removing the weight to smooth the firing cycle. I did this and it did improve things. Hope all this data you are collecting is being compiled into a useful database

No problem. This is my first TX so afraid I can't pass comment on tolerances getting worse. This one was manufactured in Feb '99 according to AA so obviously been a bit baggy for a while. I'd like to make some new plastic rings to tighten things up a bit - 3 point contact instead of full circle would allow it to be tighter but the ring runs over the cocking slot so that's not an option.
