If its second hand mate, I'd leave it well alone at that price. I bought my HW100T in .177 in mint condition from someone on this BBS for only £400 which is about the correct going rate for one.Originally Posted by deadeye dick
Depending on how "warm" your rifle is, you should get around 100 - 120 shots from a full 200 bar charge in a .177 version.

Goodness, a review of an airgun in the airgun review section
I have had my .22 HW100 for about a year and am also very pleased with it from the point of view of build quality etc. I have now switched the original Thumbhole stock for a Sporter which drops a bit of weight and feels more comfortable. Similarly have switched to a Venom cylinder to drop weight and improve the balance of the gun. I was a bit unsure about this but as soon as it was fitted the difference in feel became apparent.
I only use this gun for hunting which means that it might only get a magazine or two through it in an evening. At this air consumption rate I don't actually have to recharge the cylinder that often so I didn't have too much of a problem unscrewing it to recharge. The large O ring in the fig 8 bracket that cushions the cylinder has split on me, minor problem though. I actually liked the pressure gauge on the front of the OEM cylinder cos a quick glance at it told me where I was wheras with the QF cylinder I generally top it up every time in case of any leaks etc.
Now if HW also did a smaller lighter 'hunting' cylinder that was good for say 60shots they would be onto a winner. Lets see if the carbine one will fit ?? (update 10/07; it did so I now have one fitted !)
Slight word of caution from Hull Cartridge is that if you want to switch calibres or uprate to FAC then you need to be buying a new gun.
Currently running Accupels through it which are good though their consistency of production is not as good as it could be causing the odd flier if you havent been anal about pellet sorting.
The workings are heavily greased by the OEM so my next task will be to degrease, polish up the sear and relube which some have reported as being worthwhile.
Only minor complaints are;
1) that I think the pressure gauge would be better fitted in the stock as per AA410
2) Sometimes I have a rush of 5hit to the brain and after fitting the magazine I forget to to push the locking slider forward. I fire off the first shot OK then second shot - usually at a 'gift' rabbit - I end up dry firing cos the magazine hasn't indexed. I wish there was an interlock that simply prevented me firing at all if the slider wasn't fully forward.
All in all a top bit of kit.

It's worth saying that because the Venom cylinder is slightly longer and smaller in dia than the original, it comes with a liner for the fig 8 bracket plus a short sleeve to extend the silencer beyond the end of the cylinder. It would be even better if it had a pressure gauge too.Originally Posted by deeps
I also have a modified fig 8 bracket that only supports the cylinder leaving the barrel fully free floating. The barrel's 16mm dia and probably stiff enough to withstand most normal use, but maybe it would be better to use the original when hunting - just in case.
I agree that there's lots of grease in the action - best removed IMHO.
hi is the hw 1oo as good as the hw90 and the 80 hadenm 1
Different kettle of fish entirely old mate. The HW100 is a PCP whereas the 80 and 90 are springers. But the HW100 is a Weirauch after all - yes, it is good. It is very good indeed!Originally Posted by haden 1

If you want a rifle for HFT and hunting and weight is not an issue then the HW is where to go.Originally Posted by EastbourneBloke
Out engineers AA and the mechanics are second to none for the price range.
Needs an Adj. but pad as standard and/or an adjustable cheek peice.
The mag system is the best on the market by far followed by the rapid 17 shot and air arms followed by Daystate.
It also sits below the top of the breech so there is no fouling of any scope - a brilliant feature - the only detraction is the U shape it creates may cause the action to flex. I have not had a prob with this personally but it is easily dealt with by using a one peice and as this can be positioned anywhere, that has got to be goodd news.
The trigger is excellent even out of the box - difficult to beat and the weight is just about right for HFT and hunting with a good clean crisp break on the 2nd stage.
Cracking gun
The V-Mach cylinder is def worth having and I wonder if Hydrographics could do one retaing the end guage as they do for the Steyr.
The single shot mag is again the best on the market for HFT

That is a fair point Ross but I have not found any difference in accuracy long range between the std mag and the one shot mag and manual insertion (the latter being very difficult to do indeed).
It is better to feel the round but for most, it isnt going to make that much difference !!!
I also removed the o ring from the front bracket making the barrel free floating. there is sufficient rigidity there andf if it does take a whack, the bracket will limit the deflection.
They do have a tendency to go warm though and the action is full of grease so if you are technically minded and dont mind cocking the warranty a strip and degrease is worthwhile. However, if you are not of the technical type, it would be better to send it to Hull Cartridge asking them to do it and recalibrate to 11.2 with the ammo of your choice.
I would also suggest that a Combro is a very good idea just to make sure you dont go over the limit.

youve spotted everything barry spotted on his, they are very good guns although the stok is a bit crap IMO and the anshutz will woop its ass although they arnt really in the same price bracket, excellent value for money thoOriginally Posted by Steyr
my 177 will put pellet on pellet at 30 yds on a still day .thought i would never sell my aa 400 but this 100 has the edge
To add my comment , I tried a brand new Hydrographics .177 Thumbhole version on the weekend and was extremly impressed........
1) The weight - thought it was fine.......no probs...certainly did not feel heavier than my MK2 rapid!
2)Magazine and loading mech - Absolutely superb and true "german" style - solid feel......much better than Rapid mag and obviously we won't even mention the daystate..
3)Noise - could not believe how quiet this gizmo is....We also had a daystate MK3 and they were the same...My Rapid felt inferior in this department for sure...
4)Accuracy - easy to achieve pellet on pellet at 30yrds
Did not use for hunting as the shop owner was less than keen...
So to summarise I think the HW is the best PCP for the money but the daystate MK3 handles a lot nicer..and the Rapid....well its tried and tested
A2 all rounder....The Rapid comes into its own at FAC levels
One other point the residual value of a Rapid seems to be stronger than any other the others..I guess this has a lot to do with a lack of new models every 12mths!!
For .177 I will certainly consider HW.....But will my Mrs
Doe's dat dies are da lucky ones!!!!
I picked my hw100 mk2 .177 up on here only sunday and on tuesday i came first in our club friendly hunter comp 36 out of max 40 so lets just say i am well happy with it as the best i have done the rest of this summer is sixth
