Although I'm pretty sure David didn't know me from Adam I certainly knew who he was and I can only agree with everyone else that he will be sadly missed.

    Rest in Peace Dave

Dave was a truly honourable gentleman.

He went out of his way to make all new shooters to both wings of the sport feel welcome!

And has been mentioned, every time I address a vertical target I'll be thinking of you mate!

    God Bless!

I'm another of those who Dave probably didn't know from Adam but in my first season of competition shooting this year I shot two courses that Dave had set and it has been obvious even to me that the man was a master of his 'trade'. That he had a great sense of humour was also obvious from that experience (although I may not have laughed much at the time).

As an ageing and increasingly selfish individual I gained a lot of satisfaction from knowing that the organisation of my new found sport was in the extremely capable and willing hands of the likes of Dave Baines.

The loss to the airgun world is nothing compared to that being suffered by Dave's family and my thoughts are with them in this time of great pain.

So sorry to hear of Davids passing.

His encouragement of, and attitude toward the sports of FT and HFT were an inspiration to us all.

    He will be much missed.

    My deepest sympathies.
