    Bunny breeding season

Yep, I know they breed all year round when conditions are right, but this is the time of year when the females come into my garden and start digging nesting burrows. The boss is torn between letting me shoot them, cos they're digging up all her garden, and attacks of 'oh but they look so happy!' fluffy bunny syndrome. I don't mind leaving them alone for a while, there are plenty more in the fields, and if they nest I'll have a garen full of nice tasty baby bunnies before long, but I wondered, how many of you give them a rest this time of year, to maximise the number of targets you'll have later on? I know it's open season all year round, but I've seen a few sources which recommend giving them a rest while they're doing what rabbits do best, and I'd be interested to know if anyone does this?

Eddie where abouts in Lanashire are you ????????

    I live in Trawden.

I usually go easy on the bunnys during breading as it gives you a good supply of bunnys for later on in the year.

    Jason,

I shoot mostly in my garden at the moment - I've got a bit of a building project on, so I don't get out much, but that'll change as soon as I have a bit more of a roof over our heads.

Where is it you shoot then?

Over kellet and the surrounding area, there’s about 3000+ acres and growing all the time, my mates got a very good name around there now so keeps picking up new land all the time. Best shooting ground I have ever been on by far. It has to be as we travel 65 miles to get there.

Sure is, I've just taken his S410k off his hands hehe, and very nice it is too,

Steve if you're reading, my brother loves his new gun to bits! He's got 2 pigeons and a rabbit to date!

    Thanks again

I shoot bunnys all year round but I do my best to never shoot young ones. If an animal is young and is not being a "pest" I beleive it should have a chance at life...even if it's only to puberty
