Good job Dan
Just got back from a nice afternoon/evening on my shoot.
Went along with my seasoned shooting buddy Mark (Elma Fudd), and between us bagged:
- 4 crows
- 12 pigeons
- 36 rabbits
Not bad at all for a sunny afternoon, my .177 s410k excelled itself on some cracking shots, as did Mark's Rapid.
Completely knackered now though, skinning's gonna have to wait til the morning!

Good job Dan
doesnt sound like a bad days hunting to me
Cheers fellas - have thoroughly enjoyed the day, and hope for a repeat performance on Monday when I go over again
Mark raining down "death from above" was a sight to behold as he sniped bunnies from near the roof of a hay barn
My "feral frenzy" where I took 8 in about 5 minutes after getting myself locked in a disused building (6ftx10ft, 20ft high) was a test of nerves too - feathers everywhere - worth it when I dumped the pile of em on the deck on front of Mark as he was about to say "where've you been then?" heheh

wow, to me a good days shooting would be 3 rabbits, you must be on 3 per hour, lol
Well, today it worked out at 4.5 per hourOriginally posted by wormix001

Seriously though, my shoot is rather overrun and a lot of that number were half grown.
We select the larger ones for the freezer, and leave the rest to keep the foxes/crows off the lambs - a full crow is a happy crow, and makes them easier to shoot
Normally I'd leave the little 'uns be and stick on the pot-sized, but the 'keeper gassed 2 of the main warrens on one part, and mixy'd the survivors - far better to shoot them down then have it come to that IMO
Dan - the humane alternative
I thought it was illegal to spread myxi, i know it must be a pain for keepers and farmers with the amount of rabbits about but myxi is a terrible disease to spread takes rabbits too long to die
cheers
