What do you do in the following situation?
You're shooting with a lad who's used to shooting FT style and is with his dad (who's not shooting) and he sticks a foot and a half of shooting cushion under his knee, shin and ankle. It's clearly breaking the UKAHFT rules as regards shooting cushions being knee protection only.
In addition Dad is coaching said lad. Not in terms of shot post-mortem but before each peg.
You point out the kneeling cushion thing in a friendly "Don't want you to lose any points for this mate" kind of way (the coaching is unsporting but not in the rules so...) and both lad and his dad tell you basically you're wrong (because there's a tiny glimmer of light at the ankle where there's somethig like 1mm of clearance
). Nobody backs you up. You offer to call a marshal and you're derided by everybody on your peg.
This happened on the first shoot of a double header and so because of the atmosphere the weekend was spoiled for me.
You know what, unless someone is unequivocally cheating I'm not going to intervene anymore.
