Trouble is tho Pete, it would be like Mohammed Ali fighting Larry Holmes. Way too old and he'd take a terrible beating. Maybe if he just shot the 1st few pegs with somebody taking the weight of the rifle ?
Weeeeell, that's mighty big talk from someone who ain't never won nuthin' worth winnin', boy!
As for the comp - as soon as Ali signs up, I'm there.

The ideas definitely got merit, especially if one of us "non-proffesionals" could do the write up afterwards, someone like Lineguist if Bob could be persauded. Can you imagine what he'd write

Not sure you should be referring to Lord Nick Jenkinson as a star of yesteryear. He is still an AA grade shooter on the SWEFTA circuit and I hope to see him at Galmpton on Sunday. But I won't tell him what you said.

Just a suggestion, but ...
why not a Pro-Am, in the golf (and other sports I guess) sense?
i.e. rather than Pros v's Ams, you'd have teams of two (or four) with an equal number of Pros and Ams on each team. Teams drawn by lotts (balls from a hat) just prior to the shoot starting.
Every competitor contributes toward the fundraising pot - which all goes to the fund chosen by the winning team.
I'm sure, given (in air gun comp. terms) the high profile of such an event, we could persuade a manufacturer or two to stump up the other costs and a 'special' winners/runners up prize.

All this begs one serious question?
Does it matter which leg of the Pro's Zimmer touches the peg
