HW98k Lazaglide vs Webley Longbow sidewinder compact(lazaglided)
I fancy a quality Break action spring rifle and have more or less narrowed it down to HWs 98K lazaglided or Webley/Venoms Longbow sidewinder compact(i believe these are lazaglided as standard,i may be wrong).Any thoughts and opinions which is the better rifle.Tar.

Dave,
Ive just got my (Standard) HW97k today, brand spanking new .... a really nice bit of kit! Ive been shooting a tin can at around 70 yards using Field and Target Trophy.
I'm very impressed i'd certainly recommed one.
It seems to group nicely aswell, i put a knackered up old Edgar bro's scope on it, new scope coming soon so im expecting some fantastic results.
I'll be thinking about getting it Venomed, but why bother when it shoots as nicely as it does.
HW97K HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

both good rifles laza' tuned i've used both & i have to say the HW98 shoots that little bit better than the longbow' also they both have good triggers but the webleys is not quite as good as HW's record system but its not far off.

hello dave
without doubt there is no comparrison bettween the two rifles your talkin about
the weihruchs once lazerglided are far superior
i have owned 77s 80s custom lazerglided since 1984
when dave an ivan were at cradleyheath
the lock time on em is fast
they r smooth an easy to cock
and when u release a projectile through ones barrel
well the feelin tells you that your holdin the best springer you can buy
hope it helps

Dave, If you fancy a really nice lazaglided Break Barrel rifle speak to Steve Pope at Venom and ask for his opinion on the HW80k Lazaglide.

Reckon its the HW98K or the Webley sidewinder custom compact in.177 Then again i can see meself getting a TX200hc or HW97k,but really i hope to get a break barrel.

I have a Sidewinder Compact & HW95 Venom Hornet both in .22. Shot both today and would say the HW just pips the Webley. Both are truly excellent but IMO the rekord trigger feels that little bit nicer. Both are smooth shooters and on a par to cock, however the HW cost about £250 more. Secondly the Sidewinder has the built in moderator where as the 98 hasn't, may be worth considering if you're hunting.

I've a Sidewinder and shot Tony's Venom 95 last night.
The record trigger has the edge but the Sidewinder seemed to have a slightly shorter lock time.
This is another one were there are two very good guns and again the only way is to try both and see which YOU like best.

Longbows are NOT lazaglided from the factory!
they are just shorter&shortstroked Tommys
I must say, both guns you mention are extremely good and will do everything you want
the HW98 is heavier and longer though, than the Webleys
don't really like their looks either, like the Webleys best
I once shot a HW98 standard and was amazed by the amount of springtwang
my standard Webley didn't have any
of course the HW98 won't have it any more after a tune
for hunting, I'd say pick the lighter one

I thought that the Sidewinder was a Lazaglided, bullbarrel, tweaked trigger Venom jobbie.

Quite true Longbows aren't lazaglided, however Sidewinder compacts are.
