Hi Brian, if you've got young good eye's use the iron sights.

However if you're like some of us on here who have lost the razor-edge of youth you need an optical sight.

Rough guide, Red Dot for speed shooting and reasonably good, but for pin-point accuracy use a scope. Slightly slower target acquisition as you tend to notice every little movement of the pistol.

    Personally, Red Dots every time

Like Phil says If you have youth use the open sights, If you fit an optical sight make sure to use twin screw mounts as the puny singles allow the scope to shift towards the foresight after a few shots, I use the iron sights on mine though I get age blur problems, it likes RWS Superdomes and Accupels,

And note you need mounts that can cope with 13mm dovetails.

BSA Scopemaster mounts (made for the 13mm Maxgrip rails on BSA rifles) should work well.

Some mounts have a reversible clamp to cope with bigger rails but this may offset the scope to one side.

Armson OEG all the way. Super fast target aqusition and they are intended for two eyes open. They will fit to any rail with standard 1" mounts. As they are powerd by tritium no batteries are required and they last 12 years.

After taking advice from my Gun Dealer DAI Leisure I was advised to fit a Hawke Red Dot 30model 12120 which fits my new HW45 Black Star perfectly.

You'll get into the swing of it.

Thats ok ...sometimes slipping up with the date can relaunch an old thread into a world of new technology ....like this one...
The new mini reflex sights like HAwke have pretty much resigned the red dot to dusty bin...
More expensive though even if twice as good
