Well done fella, you have done a good job.
… and, after 3 years (almost to the day, in fact) attacked the grip of my Izh-46 with sandpaper. Nothing fancy or too clever, all I’ve done for now is round off the front left-hand edge where the tips of my fingers sit, which as it comes from the factory is just squared off.
I really don’t know why I’ve been so reluctant to do this before now, with just a bit of care it has come out ok, refinishing just the affected area (with Rustin’s Danish Oil) it doesn’t look at all patchy and – most importantly of all – it certainly improves the feel of the gun. I may yet take a bit more off, perhaps to make a bit more of a defined space for the tip of the second finger.
