BSA STANDARD 3 hole block question?

Just been asked about the small ball ended insert that fits inside the sear/trigger spring on the later 3 hole blocks......I couldnt remember without dropping the parts out of one of mine.........does the ball end bear onto the sear or the trigger please, I am fairly sure its the former, but dont want to give incorrect advice!........MANY THANKS IN ADVANCE
