did you remove the locating pin that stops the springed trigger bar if you snag the hammer from flying skywards which is located inside the grip?
Hello,
just replaced the mainspring in my HW45.
Put everything back together as I took it apart (i think).
However, the gun will not cock, I can pull the arm but it will not lock into the first power setting or pass the first power setting towards the second.
Hope you can understand,
any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

if it worked before and it doesnt now youve done it wrong so id strip it and make sure it is all in its rightful place
If you open the gun on the thumbcatch then shut it again..you should be able to dry fire it.
If you can't ..the sear \ anti beartrap mechanism is wrong ..take another look at it..it can be fitted incorrectly..look how the sear locks to the trigger bar again ..and hook up the anti beartrap properly as it acts as the sear spring as well.Try to fit it all so the trigger is 'armed' so to speak.
...Or..the easy one....check the barrel hinge pin locking grubscrew is retightened as this also prevents full cocking.

just to confirm it will not dry fire.
What do you class as the 'sear \ anti beartrap mechanism'?
Sorry I'm new to all this
Thanks

Under the comprssion chamber you will see a long trigger bar..under that is the disc shaped sear with a notch in it. ...this can rotate out of place
Put the notch of the sear behind the trigger bar on assembly ..like putting one fingertip over the other
Then..imagine if the top finger moves and releases the bottom one to let it go.
...trigger bar =top finger...sear is the bottom..anti beartrap bar hooks under the bottom finger..sear.
Sorry its the best i can explain..without pictures.

The anti beartrap lever should hold itself in under the sear on reassembly....with the trigger mechanism in the live position.
