    Plans for a spring compressor

Does anyone have plans of how to make a spring compressor?
I intend to make it quite sturdy,of metal construction,I don't want any loose springs taking flight.
    Thanks in advance

Everyone I know used to use a sash cramp as a spring compressor. However most modern spring rifles have springs with very little preload so compressors are not needed. What rifle do you have?

I was going to suggest a sash cramp, or a mod of a sealant gun. I had a corking lever (homemade wine) extended and vertically mounted with a slot in the bench for the shorter springs in the HW77 and TX200

    sash clamp

Don’t know if it is much help mate, but I use a 48 inch sash clamp forget the tool shop price’s 1 paid £8 for a Draper I think, from a local discount store. Top piece of kit fits everything only thing you need is an insert to fit the particular gun, I have in the past just used a bit of cut down brush handle, No more twanging springs and believe me I have had some
List of toys CZ .22, CZ .17 HMR Varminter, .44 Remington BP revolver, a .223 Remington s/s Verminator and various Muzzle loaders and shot guns (hope the wife never reads this ) And a awkward Teckel with very selective hearing

These are good, as you can make it any length you like.

Here's the one I made for myself. Centre and end blocks can ge moved to suit different guns. No flying springs etc.

Top ones are the ones I have but they do tend to tilt and dig - in .

Very impressed by the one you made , well done .

    I modified this idea:

I prefer to have wood clamping the action rather than chance scratching it.
    Works for me.

    Hi Rapidnick,
I have a Diana 52,Vmach kit to be fitted and a HW95 which may get the same treatment.
