    Webley Tempest .177

I came across a truely mint Tempest today and I've some questions I hope you guys can answer:

Where will I locate the Serial Number?
    and
Are light brown plastic grips unusual?

    Thanks in advance.

Hi. They don't have serial numbers, and the light brown grips are quite unsual, but not truly rare, as have had two in that livery myself. Black plastic is the norm however (hope this helps ). Atb: G.

If there, no real need to look for it as the S.N. is above the trigger housing, stamped into the action l.h. side.
Why there is this discrepancy with these numbers might be explained by certain requirements by certain governments in the past.

Brown grips were the in thing when Webley went to cast alloy bodies from cast Iron/Steel,

    Have seen a no S/N,

But have a junior that has S/N on the front of body tube, the screw in bit that the barrel rotates in,

Have seen several with S/N under grips, Not a clue why?
