CO2 Pistol Mods for Long Range?

Just curious about how many pistols have been modified for more power allowing longer range shooting?

So far I modded the valve on my Makarov years ago and it certainly gave it a bit more poke. Blasting cans to bits along the length of what was my long garden was easy.

I also have a 2240 that was tuned by Jim Giles with target grips, longer barrel, stronger hammer spring etc. It's as close as you would want to get to 6ft/lbs and is just magic to shoot.

I have plenty of other pistols that are standard and I enjoy shooting them, but nothing beats the satisfaction of going that bit further and hearing distinctly separate sounds from the muzzle crack and hitting the target

So, anyone else managed to do it?

    Mac 1 always had a 'long range'pistol.
I myself shoot with a Tau 7 Silhouet. Barrel is 2" longer than standard.
It can hold all its shots in the 10 ring of a 25m card if I can (at 25m ofcourse).
Downside of upping power with co2's with stronger springs etc usually is, that the self regulating ability diminishes.

    Hi,

I've been messing around with a 2240 to that very end.
I've had to settle for a 7 inch barrel though as I just can't get the muzzle energy below 6fpe with the 14 inch one, which is a shame as it looks GREAT with the long 'un on.

I tried that too with a polished 14" one and it does look amazing! If you change out the hammer spring for gradually weaker ones, it gets to a point where one is still too much and the one below that will not even open the valve! A huge shame indeed!

The bitsa 2240/2250 pistol I've put together has a 10" barrel, RJ Machine long breech & T R Robb power adjuster. With the original Crosman hammer spring it was over 6ft/lb. To solve the problem I bought some SD Design springs & cut them down until the muzzle energy was 5.7ft/lb with the power adjuster screwed right in, seems to work ok.

I'm thinking that I may have a tinker with the valve - perhaps reduce the volume a tad..?

Might work - I think I'll get hold of a spare valve to play with though!
