How about the Alfa Proj Co2 sport, nice target pistol and very accurate.
I'm with Paul the SMK xs78 and qb78 are good fun budget rifles and surprisingly accurate.
Fancy shooting your air pistols & rifles a bit more, then guy's & gal's come visit us at theUBC for loads of fun competitions for all types of air pistols and rifles.

If it moves.....shoot it!..If it don't move.....shoot it in case it tries to!!!

For the pistol, look for a Tau, Aeron or Alfa. You should get a good second hand one for your US$300, or new for not too much more.
For the rifle, despite what many say on here, there's nothing wrong with a good QB78. With a bit of fettling, they're very good little guns; probably more popular amongst keen airgunners on your side of the pond than here, as you seem to have less "cheque book snobbery" Look at Archer Airguns

Don't believe all the bad things you hear about CO2. You'll maybe have to adjust elevation as the seasons change, but apart from that, no problems.
There has been a series of long range hunting articles by one of your brothers in a UK airgun comic. The guy hunts out well past 50 yards with a 15 ft/lb Gamo and a 24 ft/lb QB78 - successfully. Over here he would be laughed off the field, but that's us Brits for you!!

I agree entirely. CO2 can be problematic in Umarex type pistols as far as consistency goes (in my experience of a CP88), but dedicated target pistols do not suffer.
I've had a TAU 7 for seven or eight years and have experienced none of the problems the doom-mongers foretell. A seasonal change in elevation isn't a problem - that's what adjustable sights are for.
See Todd Cooper's consistency and temperature tests here.
I am 69 and can manage to fill my LP2 to 200 Bar with a Hills pump - I shoot it every day. Saves running down my bottle as the local dive shop will not repair their knackered compressor - I keep bottle for my MK4 as that is toooooooo much effort for me. Don't know of a foot pump, except for car tyres.

Living in the US it's surely got to be a Crosman. You have ready access to all sorts of tuning goodies without huge postage costs and Crosman prices in the US are to die for compared to those in the UK. They even do a couple of models ready fitted with Williams sights. Or you can use their custom shop and 'build your own'. I have a 2240 and a 1377 and am going to build a single shot .177 CO2 pistol for the 6yd competitions........one day

Lots of votes for Crosman...that 2300 looks interesting: I must see what it weighs: I want to use it mainly one-handed.
