    Question CP99 - Guidance please

    Hi Folks

Having decided to keep my Hawke RD30 which won't fit my HW45 I've been looking to find a CO2 pistol to team it with for plinking (I know - I've too much money ). My eye has been caught by the CP99 both because it's light in comparison to the HW45 and I can get a bracket which will allow the fitment of sights for 9-11mm rails.

My question, o knowledgeable ones, is why does the CP99 I was shown recently have the gas cylinder in the handle (slide off the grips to fit) and not as shown on the Umarex website (within a magazine which then fits within the handle). The salesman assures me they are all made by Umarex so I'm a little perplexed as to why the difference.

I am, of course, assuming that the website is up to date. On the other hand, is there a European market version that's different to the US one?

The money's burning a hole in my pocket so can anyone please help me?

    Pete

That's NOT a Umarex CP99 All CP99's have the magazine type Co2 holder. You're being mislead

Why not get a Crosman 2240 and fit the Crosman steel breech(has rails on it) for plinking if you don't need multishot?

    Was it the cp99 compact?

    Thanks Paul

Does anyone else manufacture them as the one I was shown is identical in all other respects?

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts so far. As I recall it was shown as CP99 on the barrel so can't have been the compact or the CP88.

Are you sure it wasn't this?
no such words as alot or ect, and do you really want to add a second 'o' in 'lose', unless you're talking about something that isn't very tight?

Sounds like a CP99 Compact to me where the Co2 goes in from the back of the grip and mag slides into the grip. its also the 18 shot blowback version.

It is a Umarex but not a german one as we know them, they come from UmarexUSA based in Arkansas.

    Hope this helps

Hi Pete, does it fire lead pellets or BB's? This will help us help you.

    Thanks folks

It looks like I may have had the gas capsule loading system of the CP88 demonstrated to me as I rang the gun shop yesterday and they confirmed that their CP99 is made by Umarex and that it does have the gas capsule loaded by means of a magazine that is removed from the handle.

I seem to recall that the guy demonstrating it to me appeared to think I was just another 'fondler', and not a genuine buyer, so perhaps neither he nor I paid enough attention. I only called in for some targets which they didn't have so perhaps it was reasonable to think of me as a time waster

Anyway, thanks again to everyone - this is exactly why I joined this forum so 'much respect'. Next time I'll take my time (I've already let slip to 'she who lets me do anything that takes my mind of work' that I'm going to buy another gun ) and not waste yours
