    FWB Mod150 Tyrolean

Thanks to Dfor on here I have just acquired a nice FWB Mod150 Tyrolean:

The stock had been cracked above the pistol grip, but a bit of careful work, then stripping the varnish and oiling, the crack has been stabilised and its visual impact has been minimised - see following pictures.

    Crack on stock: http://www.airrifle.co.za/picture.ph...pictureid=9511

    After repair: http://www.airrifle.co.za/picture.ph...pictureid=9512

Overall very pleased with it - thanks Keith for another lovely rifle.

A beautiful rifle you have there. How does it shoot, compared to a 300?

Not sure yet, only received it yesterday and so far have only got around to sorting the stock damage. Will give it a full service before using it, but I expect it to be on a par with the 300 as the basic power plant is the same.

That's a beautiful looking rifle Dale, congrats. It's rare to see such a nicely figured 150 T stock. A lot of them were plain. Very tidy repair job, too. All in all, an incredible bargain.

It was a pleasant surprise to find out just how nice the wood was once the varnish was removed and some oil applied:

Lovely acquisition Dale. A couple of coats of tru-oil should really show off that stock.

For some reason I have never seemed to get good results with Tru-Oil, my preferred oil mix is some mystery stuff that Helston Gunsmiths cook up from time to time. It gives quite a matt finish that buffs to a pleasant satin with time.

Just glad you're pleased with it Dale. That's really my only concern whenever I do sell a rifle.

    Keith.
