I can't see why they would take the point out of competitive shooting?
If everybody is allowed to use them then everybody is in the same boat.

If you're into competitive shooting then the rules either include them or exclude them. I find them good for load development/grouping trials (ie. taking my wobbles out of the equation)
How do you feel about Iron sights/Telescopic sights? Personally I find telescopic sights use boring for Target shooting and would much rather use Irons.
