Help! CO2 leak in RWS C225

Hi, this is my first post. I'm new to airguns. I've got a Umarex 850 and a Webley & Scott Falcon which both work brilliantly, however I was recently given an RWS C225 airpistol which appears to have a faulty seal. When I attempt to insert a new CO2 bulb, it dumps all the gas immediately. I'm pretty sure the leak is at the point the bulb is pierced. I've tried silicone lube, but this makes no difference. I believe it is simple enough to change the seal, however I can't figure out how to reach it. The part labelled "Nut at Detonater" in the manual, can't be unscrewed far enough due to a projection in the frame.

I would be very grateful if anyone can tell me how to fix this.

check the nose end of the co2 capsule to see if the tip is level, there is a brand that has released some capsules that are not perfectly level and hence will dump the gas.

help co2 leak in RWS c225

    Hi,
The piercing cap seal is a common source of problems with all co2 guns. They do perish after a couple of years usage. If the seal is black in colour then this is the original seal and is almost certainly the problem. The replacement/later seal will be orange in colour, these seem to last longer.
Unfortunately, as you state you cannot unscrew the brass locating collar with the valve in-situ. The pistol will have to be dissasembled in order to replace the seal.
This is not something I would reccommend that you do as there are lots of small parts that interconnect, and unless you have a high level of mechanical competence it will end in tears.!!
Take it to a gun repair specialist. Shame you are not near me. Try t.w. chambers.

Thanks for your replies. I'm pretty sure it is the seal - the CO2 catridges I'm using seem fine and I've tried a couple of different makes.
I think I'll take your advice Pete and send it off for repair.

    Here, try this first!

Here's something that worked on my Gamo PT 80: HOLD the CO2 cylinder to prevent it from turning as you tighten the wing nut. Tighten it very QUICKLY.

This worked with mine! Slight gas leakage as the pin pierced the cylinder, but it quickly sealed shut.

dont write it off just yet!

i have a few co2 pistols and my C225 was doing the same thing.

I thought the seal had perished but it hadnt. My advice would be firstly leave the gun without a capsule in for a few hours for the seal to recover. take the brass rotating thingy out completely and clean the threads (mine wasnt doing up tight enough).

Use umarex capsule rather than a crossman (for some reason it fits slightly better). Put some pellgun oil on the top and screw in really right whilst holding the capsule. When i say tight i really mean tight - use a cloth to help grip. replace the grip cover and then pierce the cylinder. If it hisses at all then tighten a little further but it shouldnt.

of course, you seal may have perished but i have found this gun to be extremely fussy and difficult to fill with co2 for no apparent reason. It may just be that some units have slight flaws in construction but mine certainly hasnt caused issue since.
