    just bought one of these
fitted it to my s10 with the mounts supplied fits really well but the big sidewheel fouls the mag if i fit the scope where i would lke it.
the optics are very good, but fussy about having your eye in the right place (i consider this a good thing)
turrets great! i like the way they lock once set.
reticule very good, i can get it to be, and stay sharp at any range.
all the goodies and tools you need to fit it.and a warranty with people who actually give a s#it
    overall very pleased.
glass half full =optimist.glass half empty=pessimist
glass twice as big as it needs to be=engineer

What's the difference between the Viper 4-16x50 and the Mamba 4-16x50?

I'm looking for something with side-wheel parallax and low and very simple turrets that will work well with a Cobra Merlin NV monocular.

Gary and Sammie - These are sounding seriously impressive!

The former has tactical turrents, the latter low profile turrets. The Mamba also has a removable IR switch in the IR option.

So the Mamba has side parallax in the 4-16x50 model?

Yup -- the optics are the same as the Viper. When I had a look through the Mamba it looked very clear indeed. The reticle too is excellent.

Definitely ... it is optically equivalent of my Bushnell Legend, to my eyes anyway, and that scope was superb.

I'm a bit of a newbie so would appreciate some advice. I own an AA S400 and only use it for target shooting (no hunting) but may in the future want to enter the odd competition. I own an AGS 3-9x50 scope at the moment (no parallax adjustment) but recently used the same gun with a MTC Viper 4-16x50 fitted. Even at my inexperienced level I appreciated the difference in terms of clarity but the MTC costs double what I paid for the AGS. The question is: should I stick with the AGS as its appropriate for the type of shooting I do or invest in a scope such as the Viper with parallax adjustment? What other benefits would the Viper bring over my AGS scope? Your views / comments / opinions would be most welcome.

If you can see OK with the scope you're using keep your money in your pocket, before spalshing out ask why you need another scope. If you have a need and the Viper ticks the box it's a good buy. If you don't need to, don't spend.

Baz or Gary C would be the best to answer this.

As far as I know they are rated upto .50 BMG.

Someone had an issue with one of of mine I was selling, but try as I might I could not get it to do it for me (and I knocked hell out of the scope to try...I was a lot nastier than a .223).

I recently put the same scope on a spring gun and drove it round the box and it was fine.

It did hang once in a while going R-L but I put this down to the fact it had spent 5 years or so on a PCP and may have been slightly entrenched.

Very good scopes, particularly for the money. All of my rifles have MTC on them, and the above mentioned Viper will be going on a .308 so I can learn how to dial in and gauge the wind as I want to take up F/TR later.....provided I get an FAC...dont see why not though
I'm a maggot in another life you know
