The 'perfect' pre WW2 classic air rifle?

I've read a few threads lately of recent purchases, and great pics of them, that have sparked my interest in classic air rifles, so here goes.....

Which pre WW2 air rifle is the one to own, in terms of the balance of accuracy, engineering quality, looks, useability, sheer enjoyment to possess......

If you were to own only one, which would it be, and why?

I reckon the BSA improved model D would be the one

I don't have one yet but do have a BSA Standard mod2 which shoots brilliantly but doesn't have the bayonet style underlever on the Improved D...

The Webbo Srevice mk2 is nice too (I do have one of those though )

Without any doubt a BSA Improved Model D,they not only shoot very well,but are Tactile..A close second in .177 is a CS or maybe a C of the same length,these also shoot very well,however the D win,s hand's down...

Think about it.....the BSA underlever set the standard in 1905.....and can still hold it's own today. Iconic!

mid - high 11's energy, and accurate out to 50 yards

For some reason, the pre - ww1 45" guns always seem to shoot better than the 1920's-30's later standards with the extended piston skirt (IMHO)...

i think even though they arent a personel fav the lights have it which ever model you favour but my first acquisition was a std not as handy to shoot but it has size and character ,the sheer mass tames the small recoil to nearly nothing and so has my vote.

My vote is also for the BSA IMD Sporting Pattern.

Who wouldn't love this 1911 air rifle - its like holding history in your hands! For me its not just the perfect pre WW2 classic but the best of them all, ever.

Trev is a master of finding nice stuff!........they do turn up now and again over here, but more often than not look a bit more like this old warrior
