A pleasant surprise
Took my Armi San Marco Hawken .50 cal to the range today and, for the first time really, made a reasonable attempt at serious shooting with it. 25 yards standing, offhand. First time I've made any much effort, as I just got it for the bang and the smoke. Not too shoddy for a smooth bore. (That's the rifle, before any of you alleged humourists take the opportunity. ) Group measures 4.1 something inches, used 50 grains BP and a patched ball. Pleases me anyhow.

thats a nice group, over time I bet that will tighten up some more. Smoothbores can be accurate once you figure out what the gun likes. I have always been told to drive a smoothbore hard. I find 45 to 50 grains work well in mine as well
