It certainly looks better with the nasty plastic grips designated to the bin and replaced by Hogue wrap around rosewood ones.

Direct replacement, no messing about, $34 from Outdoor World.

My mistake mate, they are Pachmayr wrap around grips, not Hogue (threw the packaging away long ago.....). I don't think they will ship out of the lower 48 States. I bought these the last time we were over there.

i got a Tanfoglio witness yesterday , seems a very well made gun , but my goodness it likes its gas,, ,
i get 3 mags at good power , and the 4th is to low to be very accurate .
seems best to load 4 mags with 15 in , that way get to reload 4 times .
i also like the way it strips down like to original .
all in all a very well made gun for the money .
lets hope its reliable in the long term.
does anyone know if seals and mags are available on the net anywhere ?

The witness does go through gas at a pace, however, its worth it, where else can you get so much fun?
Seals and general spares are not available, as yet, extra mags are, but I have only been able to source from Pyramid in the states.

    Neil,
Those grips are lovely, I'm a sucker for the Hogue Wraparounds though

    http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q...s/PICT0583.jpg

I'm getting 3 mags at 18 shots per mag, that's 54 shots from a gun with some serious blowback going on
I suppose compared to non-blowback BB guns it's gas hungry but compared to most C)2 pistols it's not bad, and more fun!

Three mags of unadulterated fun mate.. that is well worth a CO2 cylinder.

I have also found them surprisingly accurate at the length of my garage, easily getting 15mm groups, although the steel balls do put a decent dent in the 3mm thick steel plate I have at the back of my pellet trap........

Also I have been in touch with JSR and they have the 4.5mm diameter lead balls on back order (shouldn't be too long before they are in stock) so they should be good fun in IPAS shoots....

    This is an excellent pistol

Ive ordered some wood grips for mine

Spare mags are a problem in the UK at the moment. You can order them from Pyramid in the States but watch out for the high delivery costs and tax etc

    Try MidwayUK

    http://www.midwayuk.com/apps/eproduc...eItemID=604649

    or the Hogue ones.

    http://www.midwayuk.com/apps/eproduc...eItemID=563401

Used them a couple of times now and although the delivery can take a while (they come in from the States) the prices etc are pretty good.

If anyone were wondering about polishing....

...then know it takes a long time and the quality of the "metal" was for me poor in places necessitating long periods of sanding.

The old Sodium hydroxide trick does not work - however it does turn the finish black but at the same time ruins it (very small bubbles) so my advice would be to lay off the caustic soda if you were considering it.

This still needs more polishing but I had to reassemble it to cheer myself up from the sit and polish, look at it, polish a bit more, look at it again routine
