Thanks - it was my computer having a glitch - I tried to delete my post as soon as I realised, but for some reason the command seems to have failed. By the time I'd done a full reboot and got everything back up again, I'd forgotten all about it...

Owned a 1980 RS2000 from '82-'84. Black with beige nets. Reg was BCU140V.

Loved it then and would love it now (if only we would keep these things).

Had a job hanging onto it though. The car thieves used to queue up during the night, but they never got it away

First car was a TR4 back in 1972 and I still have it - needs a rebuild though, smacked it on Christmas Eve 1977 ! Will never be sold, goes to one of my kids.
Also got a Suzuki LJ80 1981 - two owners and 27,000 on the clock. Had it since 1984 - 797cc of fun that can take you most places - 8 forward gears and more clearance than a Range Rover !

Morris Ital it could accelerate faster than a Ferrari or some posh iTie car. Or so the advert at the time said .

I had a 1977 (R reg) Dolomite Sprint 1750. It was yellow with a black vinyl roof, black cloth velour seats and full wood trim, finished by those lovely Sprint only alloy wheels. A very pretty motor, apart from their tendency to rust. Love to have it now. Some errrrrrrrrrrrrrrr happy memories in that car .

I had two eyetalian cars in those days; one was an Alfa-Romeo Giulietta, 2.0 gtv, great performance and possible the best handling of any car I've ever had; like driving on rails but it caught the rust bug and had a short life. The other car I enjoyed was a Lancia Trevi 2.0, streets ahead of the competition in it's time but it's reputation was ruined by it's forerunner the Beta. Good reliable motor and I did thousands of miles throughout Europe in it. After the Trevi I got a Lancia Delta HF Turbo, Martini, another flying machine.

    Fiat 124 Special T

My favourtie car of all time was my Fiat 124 Special T with a fabric sunshine roof that went pretty well from front to back - the car sounded fantastic and I have happy memories of playing 'Baker street' at full volume (nothing like as loud as sound systems nowadays!) in the summer of 1978 (so it is probably more to do with the associations rather than the car itself).

Have just googled it and find it was only 95ps but as it weighed next to nothing, that was all you needed.

I also had a 3 litre Capri and a Lotus Elan, but the Fiat was my favourite...

    Ahhhhhh!

My first "car" a Bedford J type mini-bus van. Bought half-shares with my best mate by tender from the local hospital.
Mk 1 Mini Van 1961, grey with one purple wing. Paid £30 sold for £30
MGB GT 1978 - yellow with black vinyl roof owned for 14 years.
My first Cortina company car MK 2 2.0 Ghia with sunroof and radio!
Austin Maxi - a much better car than was ever acknowledged, the start of a trend.
Mk 1 Toyota MR2, if you watered it, it would grow up to be a Ferrari. Fantastic handling.
E-Type, any mark - wanted Sooooooo much but never had. Now my brother-in-law has one.

My first sports car was Triumph Spitfire 1500 and up to recently my car was a 1988 Toyota MR2 Mk1b T-bar but have now moved onto a classic Impreza turbo wagon since needed a bigger car.
