It's a little off topic but hows this for a past example of cheap shooting. I came across a copy of "Handgunner" (UK magazine) from 1985 last night. One of the ads had a mint condition Walther PPK with holster and cleaning kit for £135.00... or as an alternative the same dealer had a Spanish Basque PPK copy brand new and boxed for the princely sum of. £27.00. I bet it was really great.
I can't remember the prices - I doubt that they were very high - but I can remember as a kid seeing Lugers for sale in American gun magazines. Just old war surplus junk!
You used to be able to pick up authentic American Civil War guns for practically scrap metal prices! The Centennial of the conflict got people interested, and prices skyrocketed and never have dropped, and never will.
