    Relum LG 522

    Been sent here by the good guys in general section, anyone help me with hints on tuning an LG 522, shoots ok but not a lot of power? i know there not powerful to start with, but can i rework this gun? kind regards Mick

    Hi Mick

    I think the LG 522 is also known as the Relum Telly and is basicaly the break barrel version of the Relum Tornado.

    I've just been given a Relum Telly so I'll be tuning this in a similar way to the Relum Junior I did a couple of years ago, ie ---

    I'll replace the piston seal with an O ring piston head - though an adaptor and a Weihrauch 26mm seal can also be used.

    The tit on the back block will be machined off so that a top hat type spring guide can be used - an old meteor one could be used if on a budget.

    For the mainspring I use a single spring and guide instead of the original twin spring setup --- normally a Meteor spring does the job.


    This is all from memory so if I get five in the morning I'll strip my Telly and see if anything else could be done or if a different spring would be a better fit.



    Last weekend I was playing with a new Walther LGV --- this weekend I'm playing with a Relum Telly.

    At least I can't be accused of being a gun snob.

    I've got a Hungarian LG522, Which I bought from a junk shop about 25 years ago. I've "googled" pictures of a Relum Telly.... but mine has very little resemblence to a "Telly". Were there varied models made?

    Just "googled" a bit more....... Seems my gun is an LG522, but with what seems to be an LG24 stock.

    Do you have an image of yours??

    Some info that I came upon while searching for details and identity of what turns out to be a FEG 877. The only stamp is I.D LP22 and the serial number with the grooved stock.
    I like them, they are solid and functional.

    Relum Jelly LP 25 (or Telly with a German T on the disk that is/was on the stock).
    One of a number of break barrels that were made for Relum by the Hungarian FEG armaments factory.
    They also made a a smaller break barrel, the 822 LP23 0.22” and 877 LP22 .0.177”.
    In the 70s these models were dropped for a new range of guns, the 422 (Taurus), 522 (Rapide) and 527 (Zephyr), the last of which is still in production.

    Relum (Muller) also imported guns form other E European countries and relabeled them.

    The actual gun is exactly like the metal in your photo. It is stamped: LG522 made in Hungary. There is another serial type number: 10(or C)252 The trigger guard is identical. Iron sights are long-gone Im afraid.
    On the photo of the collection of guns, the stock is very similar to the second one down. However, instead of the end of the fore-grip being at right angles to the cocking arm, mine is raked-backward (not forward).
    It is of an unusual woodgrain(stained quite dark). The underneath of the foregrip is very flat. No sign of a "Telly" disc indication.

    With the stock as you describe it, it sounds like you may have a Relum Taurus, which was one of the later ones.
    The South of England has 2 good things, the M1 and the A1. Both will take you to Yorkshire.

    Gonna have to stop all this googling! Found a site referring to relum Taurus spare parts.
    States the gun could also be known as a Relum Zephyr: eg..... LG 527/522 Taurus/Zephyr

    as you say these are always going to be relatively modest in output but to get the best out of them is really as already stated by posts above;
    over powering is nearly always a mistake,the meteor spring replacement is the most advantageous then replacing all the performance related parts
    like breech seal and piston seal,the piston seal in leather is an overlooked item in terms of performance and yet very simple to get the best from.
    both sides of the excess can make a noticeable reduction in output;a lesson a friend learned when rebuilding his much loved airsporter ,it was what we thought at the time a little to tight and even when a fair number of running in shots were fired power was down ,after a tad was removed from the sealing faces re lubed and she was running at full power consistantly ;the other often detail overlooked by newbies is the pellet choice.at the "range" a demonstration of a wide variety of ammo in 3 very different airguns with a detailed chrono check was an eye opener for me returning to the sport .and showed me to overlook this can spoil even a quality mark.

    As you can see it must be a rare factory camo edition --- I can't believe anyone would be daft enough to give this away.
