Material For Wings on FWB Safety

Having snapped off one of the wings on my FWB safety, I have decided to replace the wings with a rounded bar, held on to the safety slide with two small self-tapping screws and some Loctite.

I was thinking of Dremelling it out of brass (a three-point plug prong could be used as a blank). But there is some nice black horn on the 'bay. What do people think about using horn as a material on air-rifles? I think I will make it out of brass because I already have an old plug, and I have some brass blacking if I don't like the blinginess of it in the raw. But a natural material might be nice too....

Opportunity is missed by most people, because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

Thanks Matty, but I already have a spare one, I was just going to make do and mend the old one as its not a collector spec FWB Sport (shortened barrel, refinished stock, Maccari guts). Have you got a foresight (dovetail type) though?

'Red Bull gives you wings' or so the adverts say.

I make piston sleeves out of empty beer cans. You know, it can take me 6 or 7 attempts to get the dimensions correct.

The sacrifices we have to make for our sport..!

I saw a photo in AGW while back of a piston liner Jim T had made. I'm sure I could make out " Tennant's S.." I expect Terry D uses plastic from "White Lightning" bottles. I, of course, use Diet Coke cans..!
