Blackpool Air Rifles have a boxed Webley Junior Mk II .177 in that looks in very good condition. Well, nothing fell off when I was handling it.

Gerard---this is going to be a "shoestring" job and not very serious. after a set of wooden grips though as the standard plastic ones often have the retaining prongs broken.
More Musings Has anyone ever seen a better sight fitted to a Tempest? Well I guess one would be quite expensive to get made or adapted. so I thought of this if any of the tinbashers/engineers are up for it?
If one of these was made out of channel http://www.airgunspares.com/store/pr...arsight-Blade/ , the sight was longer and the vertical slot was longer ( as the cut out is only to clear the lower screw and would not interfere as the block below it moves for windage), then a narrower slot could be machined at the bottom of the plate, to give a reversible sight with a choice of 2 widths of opening. Also, guessing with a longer slot, the plate would be held by 2 screws and less likely to get knocked off centre?
Just bumping this in case any of the tinbashers/engineers fancy having a go at making the Tempest rearsight? I guess with a press, the slot could be done instead of having to mill it?

Great to hear that you appear to be making progress with the Wobbly project Guy. Hope you didn't slice your mitt too badly on that quality British steel!

Arrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhhh!
Did some more with this. not convinced that the washer is sealing well.
Now the good news for Andy, Bob and the .177 Tempest crew.Use the standard piston and washer for ease. Do some work on the trigger and sear and then cut down a mainspring. I tried both a cut down Hurricane and a cut down Typhoon in my nieces gun and they seemed pretty much the same. I reckon if you cut the spring down so that when it is inserted in the piston in the gun, it should come up to somewhere between the barrel pivot hole and the end of the cylinder. This gives a fast firing cycle and is plenty powerful enough for paper punching. Treat yourselves to a set of AIRGUNNER .177's grips
So there you have it. double

It could never be said that you are not a very thorough engineer Guy!
Thanks for keeping us all updated regarding your experimentations.
