I use lead BB intended for shotgun shells, never had a problem. Steel copper coated shot did not come out until 1947. I think the size difference is .180 as opposed to .176.

Picked this up at the weekend. I keep saying "no more BB guns", but this is really cute. Has a Telescopic sight welded to the top of the action, well it's a tube with a disc with an apperture in it, it's a special edition Red Ryder type from the 1930s.
Anyway I can only get it to shoot by unscrewing the barrel assembly and pushing a bb into the barrel, any clues anyone? I am using Gamo lead balls.
Any idea on value as well, fair condition i would say.

Calibre is.175 so modern bbs too big.
Try H&N copper coated lead ball which is a bit smaller.
Try Protek Supplies.
Sorry, I can't help with your ammo problem, but have you seen this original ad for the gun?

Late edit: I just noticed the ad recommends using Daisy Bullseye BB's, I'm pretty sure these are normal size, ie. less than 4.5mm, in fact if you go on youknowwhoBay US & put in 121319582341 you can buy some.

Thanks all, love the ad. Now I just need to get me a ten gallon hat, some silver collar tabs and a lantern jaw.
