    Hi Bernard,

The 'A' Series Mk3s are always tricky to date accurately as for some reason Webley used the 'A' pre-fix twice.

Chris Thrale's excellent Webley Air Rifles book dates Ser Nos that include A 9255 as either 8/8/69 or 20/5/72.

I'm not sure how you differentiate between the two rifles. Anybody... ?

    Regards

    Brian

    Hi Bernard,

Regarding actual date of manufacture, Iv'e now realised that the earlier series were all in .22 whereas the later series contained both .177 & .22 rifles. So, if yours is in .177 it would definitely be from the later batch, but if it's in .22 I have no idea how you differentiate.

As to value, pictures are usually required to give a reasonable estimate, but in my opinion a fully functional and complete Mk3 in reasonable condition should be worth in the region £100-£150.

    Regards

    Brian

If it originally had a 3 spot scope rail, but that is now missing and not available for re-fixing, I would suggest a price of around £75 would be more appropriate.

Thrale's book says early "A" run had mid brown stock satin oil finish. Late "A" run much darker with spray laquer.
Plain rectangular sintered loading tap on late run but may be cross over with last of early run.

    Good luck
