I'm told that Lot 1033 - "An Argles Patent twist barrel air gun, with fruit wood stock and scrolling steel trigger guard" is probably not an airgun at all, so beware! Apparently it's most likely a small garden shotgun and needs a certificate.

All the above duly noted - however.... Lot 1083...
I'm still drooling slightly from the 'boxed' pair (though mis-matched as not consecutive serial numbers) of Pope pistols:

presumably that is at least one 'shoulder stock' included as well?
Any idea what they might fetch?

The case is perfectly genuine, as is the rather strange two-compartment central box, but the set would have come originally with just one pistol, and the shoulder stock would have occupied the space where the second pistol sits. The two clips holding the spanner are also later additions. So it is a bit of a marriage, but nevertheless is worth £500-600 as a single boxed pistol plus a further £250 for the second Pope. If it was a genuine cased pair with two shoulder stocks then Danny's suggestion would IMO be a reasonable figure.
All will be revealed tomorrow - The auctioneers are going to have a very profitable day !
I also love the Bedford & Walker .215 lots 1048, and 1049.
Look like something Dan Dare would have had to face at the hands of the Mekon!
Especially if he'd lost his water jet pistol.
