I have noticed that many bb pistols shoot to the left.
I wonder why?
What's wrong with the right?
Hi guys
I got a little bored earlier so i thought i would try sorting out the point of impact on my umarex/kwc 1911..
From day one at 6 yards and 20ft, it would shoot to the left around 1 inch from the point of aim, not an issue if your hitting big tin cans but for smaller things like spent shotgun shells and 1'' and 1.5'' steel targets that i shoot it could be a right pain, so i put a laser sight on the gun, So that was fine..
http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...c/DSCN1198.jpg
But today i thought i would try sorting that out, and it worked a treat, This is what i did.. I did it twice just so i could show you.
I got everything ready that i would need.. Make sure you use good quality, thick and strong aluminium tape.
(you can use a hammer or rubber mallet but my heavy rubber screw driver does a good job at being a hammer lol.)
http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...c/DSCN1199.jpg
Then i field stripped my 1911.
http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...c/DSCN1200.jpg
Now i removed the inner barrel, when you do this make sure you remove the pin the holds the barrel in from the correct side. You want to punch the pin out from this side.
http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...c/DSCN1201.jpg
http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...c/DSCN1202.jpg
Then you can just remove the pin with your fingers or pliers. And the inner barrel will then just slide out from the outta barrel..
http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...c/DSCN1208.jpg
Measure and cut a piece of alloy tape the same size as the black plastic ring that sits over the inner barrel, and wrap it around, i done mine so it only just overlaps, you do not want to put a lot on as the inner barrel still needs to slide and move freely inside the outta barrel.
Also make sure you do not overlap onto the front lip of the black ring, this way the tape will not rub against the outta barrel and wear down quickly. I also made sure the tape overlapped on itself to the left side of the barrel as it shot to the left.
http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...DSCN1211_1.jpg
http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...DSCN1212_1.jpg
http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...c/DSCN1203.jpg
http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...c/DSCN1204.jpg
Now put the inner barrel loosely back in the outta barrel and make sure it can still slide smoothly and freely, you should not feel any resistance at all, the only thing you should notice that there is less wobble at the front due to the inner barrel being more of a perfect/tighter/smoother fit.. (if you feel resistance remove the tape, its not needed in your gun)

Once you are happy, put the gun back together.
http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...c/DSCN1209.jpg
This is how my 1911 is shooting now, as you can see the point of impact is center, now because this gun used to shoot to the left, i never used to use it much, (i dont like using lasers) but now it shoots straight i will be using it MUCH more, im a happy chappy..
This was just a quick free standing test pulling the trigger quite quickly so im sure the groupings with tighten up when i shoot more slowly etc..
http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...c/DSCN1210.jpg
A word of advice though, even though alloy tape is thick and strong and very sticky, it will still wear over time, so make sure you check it now and then, i will check mine after 200 shots and then post a picture as well to show how much wear has happened, if happened, (do not use any other tape apart from strong aluminium tape)
Hope this helps someone, i will also do a video of this too, why not.
Happy Shooting All

HI mate..
Lol your right, I have also had and noticed more guns when shoot off shoot to the left, maybe the people who made the machines that make the guns have be a wonky left eye, I'm sure that's it lol..
If we did not know better and have many many many different guns some could think it was our trigger finger positioning.. Pff if only if was lol.
Happy shooting all, hopefully not to the left but straight

I fitted an adjustable sight on my Witness a few years ago. Can move the point of impact wherever I want with a turn of a screw. This is a micro adjustable sight that fits straight in the witness machined dovetail.

Good grief that's an ugly pistol.
Is it made from a Caramac chocolate bar?
Eugh.

Hi Marc, the one in the pic came off of one of my .45 ACP pistols I carried in South Africa. You can buy then from the USA from companies like Midway or LPA. They are also on the bay, but they are not cheap. Perhaps the airsoft guys stock some types here in UK.

HI guys just a little update then. Took the 1911 to gin club Tuesday and put a few more rounds through it, once I finished shooting I looked down the muzzle and noticed a bit of alloy tape sticking out, so that means the alloy tape has started to weardown, so only lasted just over 250 shots which I think is not good enough..
I will take the gun apart tonight to see how much the tape has worn-out and take some pictures, I will then try to perfect the mod more, personally I think the mod needs to last at least 500 rounds for it to be worth doing..
I'll update more later then..

Hi guys, another little update then..
lol well after me saying that i noticed damage/wear on the alloy tape, and was not happy with how long the mod lasted, well all i can say is dam my eyes must be good and i must also be very fussy lol.
Took the barrel out to have a look at the wear on the alloy tape and this is all i saw, can you see the tiny little mark/raised bit? well that was it thats all the wear i swear it looked like more then that, maybe it got press flat again as i removed it, who knows..
http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...c/DSCN1246.jpg
Well i thought as i can see that little lip, i might as well redo it slightly differently, so i took the tape of and put a fresh bit on but this time much shorter, so that when the inner barrel moves forwards inside the outta barrel the end of the tape does not exit the outta barrel but stays flush inside..
http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/b...c/DSCN1249.jpg
Still works the gun fires more center, i had a long shoot today upstairs (2 hours) as i was home alone, i did 5 co2 capsules in this so just over 200 shots, after i have done another 300 shots ill check to see if there is any wear or not, but i have a good feeling i might not see any. I will update the post again when i look..
Happy Shooting all..

Marc, got these Glock adjustable sights in Australia for 25 quid, think I should have bought another dozen. They give a brilliant sight picture on the CP88.

Hi baz, they look amazing mate lol im a bit jealous for a few reasons, i want adjustable sights on my WE Glock 18c but i dont think they would be compatible as the sight gets screwed in from the underneath of the slide as the sight also hold the blowback unit in..
But these would also look good on my tan 1911 thats for sure, do the sights get fixed to the slide like the original cp88 sight with a hex screw through the center bolting it down?

No screw, just fitted it in the slide dovetail with some Tigerseal and adjusted windage position.
