And one bloke I bought a 1904 made Marlin carbine in .44-40 had it for fox control on his orchard to protect the bantams he kept for fun! There's loads of what would "obscure" stuff used. Some necessity, some because that's what they've always used and other stuff because they can, have justified it and enjoy it!
