Watch it and learn. I've seen it before and I STILL wonder at it. I'm lucky enough to know two people like this over in Oregon - both are consumate craftsmen, and charge accordingly. Both also make their own barrels, if the likes of Coleraine are not good enough for you. Another master gunmaker of my acquaintance made all the rifles you see in 'The Patriot' ambush scene.

    Thanks for posting.

Be advised that Mr House used to insist on a face-to-face meet, and he has/had to like you, too.

Then there's the three-five year wait while you locate the three-five thousand dollars - or more.

Mike Brooks is a bit quicker, and slightly less expensive, I'm told. There seems to be only one person here in UK making flintlocks - Peter Dyson - and he only makes a replica of a Baker rifle. About three years and £4K seems to be normal there.

Back over in Oregon there are around thirty good makers, and ten excellent makers, and five OMG makers of national renown.

Shame you don't live there, eh?

That's useful many thanks. Actually I have an office in Denver and spend a fair bit of time each year in the USA. I have a client in Oregon so maybe I just need to pop up 'on business'.
