Yeah but you can't shoot it, its a paper weight!
It might be worth 5 times what you paid for it but that means buying one today is not an attractive investment, especially if you want to shoot it!
Great Deals with : Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich
.....plus I don't have £1K + spare, its a lot cheaper to look at them in Carlisle Castle museum.OK so no help whatsoever to the OP. Buy something you can't shoot for 5 times what it's worth or shoot something else.
Thanks for the posts so far, KWC seems good, but has anyone got or had the Umarex version?
I have shot the basic Umarex non blowback one.
It's good and powerful.
I have the KWC model which is fine and blowback but less powerful.
I have the WW11 Umarex one which doesn't work very well although it seems to be a roughed up version of the KWC.
It struggles to blowback and you don't get many shots.
It was a bit better after I lubed the shuttle etc and it may wear in.
If there is another model I can't help.
I'm not a Luger fan and recall that TV show where a Luger fan and an ex US Marine using a 1911 did a trench warfare course competition.
The Luger was properly humiliated and the fan upset.
I remember that, I think it was one of the Will Willis shows, but I can't remember the name of it here for the life of me.
I think in the US it was called 'Triggers; weapons that changed the world'.
I seem to remember that the Luger was the more accurate for precision shooting - but the 1911 was the better combat tool.
But, then it was an American show and dissing the 1911 is similar to slagging off Debbe Reynolds
What I clearly remember was the Luger missing some pretty easy targets in the trench.
I agree about veneration of the 1911
In another episode he took on a mate with a Beretta 92.
The Beretta won right up to the last target which it could not knock down.
Our Hero caught up and the .45 ACP did what it does.
The original question is actually a pretty hard decision. Certainly the KWC for the blowback action and ability to field strip. On the downside, accuracy is not that good but good enough on soft drinks cans at 6 yards or so. The black finish on the KWC and white writing detracts too but can be removed.
The greyer finish on the non blowback Umarex is a little closer to the original, as are the markings on the pistol. The finish can be 'battle worn' through carefully applying a magic eraser to high spots in order to mimic years of use. Accuracy and power are higher too.
I ended up with both!

KWC ordered today, thanks for all the advice!
