Euch, no, that's a shame.
Is it a factory bore or one of those brass .25" barrel liners stuck in there?
Was not aware that Webley did .25's ... but mate has a .25 cal Vulcan .
Has anyone else seen these ?
Any background ?

Never heard of a factory one. Of course there has always been a small shed-based industry of people converting things to .25" or .20" when they weren't available in those calibres from the makers.
The only post-WW2 Webleys I know of in .25" were the Patriot and a small run of FAC-level export-only Eclipse Mk2s.
Well that's a new one on 'Geezer' then.
Steve Harper? Wasn't he the singer with Cockney Rebel??
Sorry, I'm not taking this seriously at all, am I...
Intriguing. Never heard of a factory one.
Of course, some big dealers did special order non-standard calibres, like MAG's .25" BSA Cobra Strike Magnum (sounds like a really bad 80s action movie).
Would love to learn more.
Oh, and it's Steve Harley from Cockney Rebel. Who also invented the motorcycle.
25 cal Vulcan...That's interesting. Webley did do a .25 cal Tommy also, yes I know abit later than the vulcan but they did them. Mach 1.5
.
I had a factory spec .25 Webley & Scott springer break-barrel Patriot on my F.A.C. a few years back, and said Patriot dated firmly to the Vulcan era, so wonder if your mates Vulcan is a hybrid of a regular Vulcan fitted with a Patriot barrel?
That stacks up as being possible in m book, as it was possible to order a Patriot .25 sub 12ft.lb at that time, thus eliminating the need for RFD and/or Proof House intervention, so in theory, it was potentially possible to order a .25 barrel off ticket back in the day? Just a (hopefully helpful) thought?

I'm not sure there would be enough meat in a blank to machine the groove required in a vulcan barrel. If there was, You'd have to be pretty gentle when closing the gun to keep from deforming it.
I guess the bore of the breech block could be enlarged to allow the full diameter of the blank to be used right up to the breech. Come to think of it, the part of the barrel engaging with the pin could be achieved on one side only, giving extra strength.
What diameter do the lw / bsa etc blanks come in?
Donald
Thinking about it Donald,
Increase in bore = 0.25 - 0.22 = 0.03
So decrease in wall thickness = 0.03/2 = 0.015"
If you were worried about the 15thou" decrease in the wall thickness you could increase the groove diameter by 30thou" and just reduce the centre of the latch pin by 15thou".
All the best Mick
