    Excuses for shooting poorly

Milek has given me an idea to find out what the best excuses you have heard for poor shooting. No biased here, PCP's and Springer excuses all welcome.

Milek started with ""oh no my springers feeling the effects of this weather"

My fave is, "I am wearing the wrong shoes"

I took my 9 year old to the range, she was quite good, but when she missed a close knock down she complained that she had an itch on her bum which put her off.

    "I didn't get enough sleep"

    "I had too much caffeine"

    "It's too bright out"

At the AGF meets we have a trophy for the best excuse every year but last year, following the HFT event we heard the best/worst excuse for a poor score ever.

"it was a right handed course"

One of the guys after a bit of a bad shooting session said 'ah, I had hiccups for a while there'
We responded with 'we never heard you hiccup?'
Their response was 'well, they were silent ones weren't they!'

Gun is shagged, needs a service.

Gun has just been serviced, needs time to wear in.

    Scope's broken.

    Scope is moving in mount.

    Scope mount is moving.

Scope is shooting to different POI on different mags. Bloody scope.

    Silencer clipping.

    Something to do with parallax.

    Barrel harmonics.

    Barrel needs a clean.

Just cleaned barrel, needs to bed in.

    Barrel must be bent.

    Cant.

Bloke next to me on the range put me off.

    Too much coffee.

    Not enough coffee.

Must be a duff batch of pellets.

    Something to do with seals.

    Trigger lubrication.

    Getting tired.

    Barrel harmonics.

    Sun.

    Clouds.

But never: poor technique, not focused, maybe a bit hungover, thinking about work or other stuff, out of practice, or generally just having an off day and should either man up and shoot properly or pee off and do something else today and come back some other time.

    Welcome to the forum-

Would your daughter mind if I used her excuse? When I'm shooting badly? Heard all the others so nice to get a new one to cover my rubbish my shooting ability!

I don't have any excuses, if I'm shooting crap then I'm shooting crap, simple as, it don't happen very often though...

Ps, I don't shoot with other shooters so the only person I'd be bullshitting is myself so it would be a fairly pointless exercise really...

By the way, these may have been other people's excuses, but I have had all of them in my own mind at times. Sometimes they were true, but other times I had to have a very strict word with myself about how it was more likely that I was being a crap shot as opposed to my rifle or scope suddenly deciding to sh1t itself.
