One of my scopes feels horribly gritty when adjusting the mag' ring or the front AO.
I'll tell ya what it feels like - It feels just like there's grit in the grease in amongst the threads. And I'm tempted to try washing it out from the outside, with WD40 or white spirit.
What should I do?
I'm definately not going to attempt taking a scope apart...![]()

I could be flipant and say off-load Phil but I'd try and have a stab at something constructive.
Never had the problem myself but I would imagine it'll be a "dis-assemble" of some sort as I cant see a "flush out" working.
What scope is it by the way ?
You need to weigh up a repair/service cost with the manufacturer (if possible) and the value of the optic.
“An airgun or two”………
I've always used a blower on compressed air to get the crud out of my scopes mag / ao rings.... Works a treat for me... Best method is to cycle the rings in a clockwise and anti clockwise motion with one hand, whilst blowing air under the skirt of the ring using the blower..... You will be surprised what comes out![]()
Take no notice Phil, you go for it mate![]()

dip them in vodka. I heard it was a good degreaser
and when you can't hit anything once its back on the rifle you can say its because your scope is still hung over
