4 For Farm? Who uses a fixed 4mag for farmyard?
I've been using my 3-9x40 diamondback on my R10 at the local dairy farm for ferals, corvids, rats etc it's been good but I'd really like to lower my scope hight to get better eye alignment and get better depth of field from a smaller objective., being as I only really use 4mag I thought a 2-7x32/33/35 would fit the bill. Then I started looking at perhaps a 4x32 and I'm really wondering if a trip back to the start (my first scope was a Nikon prostaff 4x32 np) is in order and forget the ballistic/mildot reticle, & just go Plex/#4, super simple no frills, no AO, no IR, no zoom, no hassles or distraction.. just a fixed fantastic like on my evo. although that is a 6mag, but I tend to use it in the field more....., mmmmm.
So who uses 4mag & Plex/#4 ret to great affect in barns, around sheds, above feed pens & surrounding trees from 5-30yrds max on a .22 pcp? Is it worthwhile me going down this route? Or am I hoping for too much?
Thanks all
Rhys

As long as it's" class glass" it will be great !
I always use 4 mag for farm yard work.
My scopes are 3-9x40 and 2-7x32.
I've considered the Nikon 4X32 for exactly the reasons you are.
Its a 50 yard parallax and has a duplex ret which should be ok.
My issue is that I think the turrets are 1 click = 1/4" at 50 yards (not 1/4 MOA at 50 yards) which I don't find adjusts finely enough for me. If you can prove me wrong on that I'll be buying one myself.

Just thought i'd add that all I have shot on, for over 35 years is 4x mag, save the odd flirt with 6x.
That's at all airgun quarry and all ranges.

That's also mostly what I've used for some 40 odd years, well nearly
Still use the Sworovski Habicht Nova 4x32 I bought in 85 but also used a cracking Beeman (Hakko) SS scope, sadly now long gone

Tasco 4x32 Duplex ret for me. 30 yards is my limit though
Thanks all., Sounds like I'm worried over nothing. IL be going 4x32 shortly!

I looked at that ad myself and was tempted but talked myself out of it and I am envious .
Well done you can't beat class !

No you can't.... I have a few scopes now which are very very nice.. and as far as I'm concerned 1 really nice scope is better than 3 or four rubbish ones, it's hard though if you don't have large funds to pick the best. That's why I try & jump on the lower cost second hand items.

For that type of work Rhys, I used to use a Simmons WTC 4x40WA or a WTC 1.5-5x20 !

Well if I hadn't just bought one of these:

I'd might have looked at those....
But as Phil has said to me about other scopes, "it's probably just not expensive enough for you!"
I think the meopta should meet all my requirements even though it's alot of money for a 4x32!!
I might let you look through it at the bash if I can make it! I know how you like me have a soft spot for a meopta.
