Any Luthiers in the house?
Just taken delivery of a CS1000 for my 97K from Macarri, lovely piece of wood with tiger stripes all the way along it on both sides
Question is whats the best way of finishing it and staining it?
Any ideas?
I play a Fender bass, I shoot a springer. I like things to be, well, dependable

You could do a lot worse than buying a napier stock finishing kit

If you are happy with the depth of colour/stain just use Danish oil, (not refined Danish oil as this gives a shiny finish) Rub in "always with the grain" with 0000 wire wool. slurp it on. leave for only few minutes then wipe it all off and leave to dry several hours and do it oll over again, three or four coats should be enough. Finish then may take 24 hrs to really dry in warm room.
When I die don't let my wife sell my guns for what she thinks I gave for them!!!
Pics will come when I have it to a stage that I am happy with it, as with all Maccari Stocks, it needs quite a bit of work.
I am tempted to make it 'wine red' like the finish on some Gibson Guitars, just wondering how to go about it now, I think it will probably need a red oil or varnish - hmmmm.
