i have both a mark 2 full length and a mark 3 fish scale HC. it would make sense to get rid of one which i suppose would be the mark 3, but i just cant do it because i just love the gun and i like the stock.

    Barry,

For me, the 'new style' TX stock, along with it's fish-scale 'checkering', makes me want to vomit

The 'old-style' TX stock is much more to my taste.

My TX200 now wears a Custom Stocks CS800, and for me, that is a superb stock.

Have fun & a good weekend

    Best regards

    Russ

Interesting reading the posts on this topic. Its turning into a right old "Marmite issue" with Members either loving or loathing the fishscale with not much inbetween !
Pretty sure AA didn't foresee that when they took the decision to produce it !

    Still...the gun sells well !

Funnily enough I don't like the cs stock checkering panels either.. I think the panels are far too small looking and the patterns don't follow the lines of the stock... it looks like they are generic patterns layered into place, applied like some kind of afterthought. Don't get me wrong - the stocks are lovely, just the checkering that's off putting

    Donald,

I don't like checkering full stop

On my CS800, the pistol grip area is beautifully stippled, and fore-end is plain (no checkering or stipling).

Have fun & a good weekend

    Best regards

I know the cheap BAM40 doesn't have any checkering but it is more like the old TX stock, so I don't think the mk3 looks cheap

I can't believe how many people prefer form over function!

It is easily one of the best handling factory stocks out there!

Please just go to the gun shop and handle one.

I also like the fish scale patern and the surrounding border bit. When I look closely at it, it's a quality job. The cut into the walnut looks very precise and even.
That’s because it’s done with a CAD laser (albeit within about 2 minutes).
This is exactly the reason why it annoys me.
Had some craftsman laboured over it with a chisel, then I could possibly ignore it a bit easier - but it’s simply a pattern crammed into a program and then smashed out sharpish.
I can understand it’s quicker and far cheaper to use a laser - but why not have some simple, tasteful patterns? The overly intricate patterns that lasers are able to cut - and designers therefore feel the need to exaggerate, actually make it look talentless and snide.

Not for me.. Lop is too short and reach to trigger is too short... it's made for someone about 5'9"
    HW fit me far better

Barnes rifle has plenty of power - so does the BOYS anti tank rifle - and Dianne Abbott.
All pigs to look at though.
