In the occasional 'just the right barrel' they'll probably go OK, but I can tell you how many shooters used them in the 2017 Worlds - None.

I've posted a thread selling off a lot of bits of tins of pellets, ideal for trying out without having to buy full tins, there are some Superfileds among them for £1 - it may be worth getting a few others to mitigate the postage?

It really is a barrel and individual gun thing though, the main brands are consistently the best, but some others can throw up a few surprises now and again. My Wife's Regal for instance loves Superdomes, but they are just "ok" in most of my other guns, but fine for plinking and outdoor on the range.

As Richenbacker rightly points out - they are not used in major comps because they are not aimed at that market, they are a cheap and cheerful plinking and hunting pellet - in the right gun.

Interesting Daystate connection - I've an old LR90 that shoots well with .177 Superdomes.

Regarding .177 Superfields v Superdomes, we once did some comparison chrono tests through a few different springers (TXs, HW95s, 97s). The Superfields were quite a bit down on power compared to Superdomes.

As you say - always worth a try though. They should at least be a decent plinking / practice pellet.

Had a Hw100 177 once, and the superfields were the best pellet in that by a mile.

Very good in various Diana's that I've tried them in. Only very slightly behind Superdome and FTT in some. All in .177 cal.

I Not long bought a selection pack for my Terrus and the Ultra. Superfields were in the pack and I was impressed by how shiny they were (That's me all over) and how well made they look.

They were just OK in both.

I will sticking with JSB exacts 4.53 thanks, shoot well in both.
