Those look like some very nice pieces of work
I'm extremely jealous of your lathe, though

Nice lathe there and very nice parts, and ohh so many collets, cool to see them being used to such good ends. If you are using a digital camera press the little picture of a flower before taking the next shot tho, err sorry . Stuff like that needs good advertising .

Hmmm...I don't think I could fit one of those in my shed!
Lovely work mate. I shall have my money ready at Bisley, look lovely on my S400 one of those MFC's will.
Don't suppose you remember if I asked for the three piece or the single piece (Does the one piece have the air-stripping cone inside?) 'cos I'm bujjered if I can remember?
Nice toy mate
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.
Dribble, drool,
wanna swap the Hardinge for my super 7, I'll even throw in the four collets I've got?
go on you know you want to.
Lovely work there mate, there's nothing quite so satisfying as seeing a freshly machined object glinting in the light and knowing its all your own work.

I am a pistaholic, and proud of it
let me think about that one
It holds more sentimental value than anything else . My dad worked on it for 25 years and left it to me in his will 3 years ago . I worked next to him on a metric hardinge for 6 years till the factory shut . ( thats where the metric collets came from , aswell as spare 3 & 4 jaw chucks etc .)
Glad you appreciate it aswell .
Dave
Always had you down as a bit of a "lathe" character anyway Dave.

served my aprentaship on one of them hardings nice tool, an boy have thay got a high rpm ,think we polished to 5 microns on 1 of them ,, has been 20 years so prob wrong, but it was like crome

[QUOTE=langbaybart]served my aprentaship on one of them hardings nice tool,
I did my apprenticeship on one aswell ( 1979) under the supervision of my dad . Have you ever seen 'American chopper' on The Discovery channel ? The Father & Son relationship was very similar , lol . I couldnt wait to get on the milling section .
Incidentally the lathes top speed is 3000 rpm , infinately variable from 0 , and are made to easily maintain toolroom tolerances .
They are still made today , but are not cheap . Airarms and Parker Hale use hardinge lathes , admittedly probably cnc ., and i am sure most top makes of guns have been 'hardinged' .
