The 55 is a lower powered short range target rifle. The 50 and 55 have a much older release date so were available in 25mm. The 99 is a later offering so is 26mm as is the modern 50.
Hello me again. Be gentle! I read somewhere that the 50/55 is the German version of a UK 99. The 55 I have is 25 mm compression chamber and I believe a 99 is 26 mm so a bit confusing to me. Thanks for looking.

The 55 has the same size cylinder as the MK1 50 with a 25mm leather seal. The 55 has a barrel lock & comes in loads of versions with the HW55T being rather nice.
The new version HW50 & HW99 are different all together .
That is correct, the Mk1 has the 25mm leather seal then later on around early eighties it had the synthetic seal up until the new 99/50 came along with the 26mm seal.Hope that helps clarify a little.
The MK1 stock has no but pad & finger grove on the fore end ,it has the fixed post fore sight & early version of the rear sight, the later synthetic version has the modern sights & stock.
Good info. as per. Thanks Landymick
