Where did you see all these SLR98's for sale?!
I've been busy working too hard for the last few months and yesterday thought I would have a look around the airgun scene. I was amazed at some of the prices being asked for Theoben SLR98's...they are good rifles, but not a patch on the SLR88's. What other rifles are going up in value so much?

Am I right in thinking that Theobens have always been overpriced
Pete
Far too many rifles to list now, all mainly British but the odd pesky foreigner has snuck in
The HW90 has the Rekord trigger and is an excellent rifle..
Theoben's are extremely well made. Expectations are they should shoot easy too, but at the end of the day they are just a gasram springer with all the issues of a piston powered air push system. 1/2 as forgiving, but not PCP perfect.
The Rapid 7 PCP part I don't know about, others who do can chip in here.
Going up in value? They were never cheap to start with. Think they are just holding their own. No more are going to be made thats for sure. No one is going to build to that standard again. Well only through superior manufacturing techniques and then its more about margins and target markets.
Enjoy them for what they are. I've always though them good value. But not because they are a better or best mousetrap.
What the trigger or excellent rifle bit?
Think the trigger is a Record or very similar. The HW90 sold well and people generally liked them.
Hope so... Might sell the TTR
Theoben TTR1 .177, Steven B Blue/Grey Laminate Stock, Nutshot Mod, Hawke Sidewinder 10x42 Tac IR
Daystate Pulsar. 177, Donny FL Sumo Mod, Pard NV008LRF
Lets not forget that Airforce in the US now own the Theoben name and have said they will be producing rifles under that name .
They may not be up to the same standards as the UK Theoben's though.

Future plans include bringing back the legendary Theoben line of airguns. Theoben started building airguns in England over 30 years ago and quickly developed a reputation for quality. After ceasing operations 5 years ago during a severe economic downturn, there has been a relentless cry to bring the line back into production. “We intend to bring this classic line of airguns back into production as we ramp up the availability of RAW products” said McCaslin

Same as everything else. Compared to some of the newer stuff, they might be considered cheap. There are lots of very nice custom stocked rapids around £800 at the moment on the usual sites. With the RAW guns at around £1500 new, and I did see on Mr Tawns website a new Theoben USA MFR for £1200 new, though it's not there any more.

Law of any kind only affects those willing to abide by it.
I believe the trigger in the 90 was the ‘elite’

HI All, I think theoben are well over priced they will ask as much for an old one that was only that new,atb bob
I think they are worth every penny of what someone will pay for them ! I have an unadulterated late mk1 and it is a great gun . No frills , accurate and easy to service when the time comes . My sons MFR has been serviced once in 8 years and is as accurate and consistant as anything I have owned

The rammers do fetch a good price, i think a big part of this is that they are quite iconic. A rifle is only worth what someone will pay for it. I personally love my theobens and think they perform very well
Such a delight to own and shoot an SLR98, it's alive compared to so many dead air rifles these days imho.
