Phil,
For me, the higher mag. 'benchrest' 'scopes, as has been said, allow a more precise shot placement, and also more precise aim-offs for wind etc.
Have fun & a good weekend

I got random flyers with some pellets as well. Best I get as far as were H&N Barracuda Match 4.51 but didn't keep going too far as I ended up using the 400.
Forgot to say, don't bother with the sample packs where you get 10-15 pellets of a load of random types, you need enough to shoot a few groups.
Good deals with: ali d (twice), mattinlondon, mikemorton, jonboy, the wizard, Moza, markH, fok, gunslinger, Fisherman1, bigwull, mikewareing, TwoTitans, hairydog, airguns, dcl dave, Stuart B, mattie, Locksley, MARK, albrown, kjud, spud, gedfinn2, wasteoid, bullcelt, bunnysniper, wasteoid, pokeandhope, honda+more

Phil,
I have used the Weaver T36x40 & the Sightron SII 36x42 (on a 6mm BR rifle, shooting at 100 & 200 yards), and for me, I would choose the Weaver - they are both excellent 'scopes.
