    superdomes alternative

is there an alternative to rws superdomes. my .22 hw80 firing cycle has been set up/tuned to shoot them at 11.2 fpe, i find the accuracy good up to 20 yards but ive no confidence with them any further out, is there any other pellet that will give a similar firing cycle and power with better accuracy. it shoots field target trophy well but with less power.

If you're 80 likes RWS pellets superfields might be worth a try.

In my experience I haven't found a single rifle that likes superdomes.

Exacts on the other hand I cant find a rifle that doesn't like them.

My old Titan MC020 loved 'Domes. When I couldn't find them I'd use Bisley Superfields, or even H&N Silhouette.

My UK Webleys like Superdomes, (22) my MK1 97 too (177), my BSA Scorpian (22)
The immensely popular starter rifle Hatsan/Edgar Breaker 900 shoots super dome best in both power and accuracy (in 22, a tip if you didn't know)
My old V Glided HW35 too
Looking for TO-6 Trigger unit unmessed with or T0-6 kit for 34

Sounds like an older barrel if getting higher ME with SDome than FTT

You could try the HW pellets , a slight FTT variation, or a bigger FTT (say 5.54 rather than 5.53)
Bisley Superfield (another H&N pellet, a kind of banded FTT that seems to go well in older HW barrels)

ALTHOUGH, if getting max ME out of super domes in an older HW barrel, are you sure they are not the most accurate ? They will drop a bit more due to flatter shape than shorter roundheads but they can be blisteringly accurate in a compatible barrel

Other pellets worth trying might be Crosman Ultra Mag (or other 'accupel' types)

The lightweight jsb variety seem to mould well enough to any barrel too, I'm not keen on such lightweight pellets in 22, but they do shoot well in many rifles -

H&N Silhouette? And past tense. Are you saying that Superdome belong in the past?

    Erm, I don't think so.

All pellet brand that's still around, and accurate, are still relevant.
I haven't used superdomes in almost 20 years, and a 12ftlb airgun in less than 8.

its been set up to shoot super domes by one of the top tuning boys, something to do with them being one of the most efficient pellets in a spring rifle and a lot of work as gone into the 80. dont really want to mess up the cycle by adding preload.

    Efficiency is pointless without accuracy
